What the Fuck Just Happened

Did the cops just arrest Dylan for shooting my father? If not, please wake me up from this fucking nightmare because this shit can’t be real. Dylan wouldn’t dare do anything like that. He has too much to lose. Besides that, he knew how much my father meant to me so these allegations have to be false.

“Nick, please tell me this isn’t true.” I begged him. He was only standing a few feet away from me so I tugged at his arm.

“Come on. Let’s go outside.” He whispered to me and then he escorted me out of the emergency room through the sliding doors.

As we began to walk towards the parking lot of the hospital, Nick started laying everything out for me. “While you and I were gone to your pop’s house to pick up his things, he started snooping around y’all crib while Dylan was in the bathroom. So, when he found the dope I had just dropped off to Dylan, he ran up on him after he walked out of the bathroom and started questioning him about what was he doing with that? And was he a drug dealer? So, Dylan snatched the package away from your pops and told him in so many words that he ain’t answering his questions and for him to mind his business. But your pops wasn’t going for it. So, he told Dylan he was going downstairs to call the police. And when he started walking towards the front door Dylan pulled out his gun and shot him.”

Listening to Nick as he explained every detail of the altercation my father and Dylan had almost made me sick to my stomach. I stood there in awe. I honestly did not know that to what. But most importantly, I didn’t have the slightest idea of how I was going to deal with this situation. I knew one thing though; my plans to take my father to Hawaii were definitely gone out of the window. How much more drama will I be able to handle? God please give me the strength.

Tears started falling from my eyes at that very moment because taking sides between Dylan and my father will be another issue I will have to face. “Nick, what am I going to do?” I began to cry.

Nick embraced me. “I don’t know. But we’ll figure it out.” He assured me.

I stood there for a moment thinking about whether or not it would be in my best interest to go back into the hospital. Cops were swarming the place and the last thing I wanted to do was answer a bunch of fucking questions about my man or my father. And then it hit me, so I turned my attention back to Nick. “What did Dylan do with the package?” I asked him.

“Don’t worry. I brought it out of the apartment right after the paramedics came on the floor and grabbed your pops.”

“Where is it now?”

“I’ve got it in the trunk of my car.
